How to Fit Bathroom Wall Panels

Cadco Fitting Instructions for PVC Wall Panels

Tools & Materials

  • PVC Wall Panel
  • Internal/External Corner Trims
  • End Cap Trims
  • Stanley Knife
  • Solvent-Free Adhesive
  • Silicone Sealant
  • Masking Tape
  • Handsaw or Jigsaw
  • Hacksaw
  • Pencil
  • Spirit Level
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pins, Staples or Screws (if using in installation)

Preparation

Prior to installation, allow the PVC Panels to be laid flat for 24 hours, this allows them to acclimatise to the rooms humidity, as PVC Panels can swell in humid environments.

Prime the walls with primer if that is needed.

Remove any protective film from the front of the panel.

Clean the panels well with a warm, damp cloth.

Installation

TIP: Before you cut any panels to length, measure the width of the ceiling. If you are installing a panel with a silver feature strip, you may need to cut the first and last panel along its length to achieve a 'balanced' look. This will avoid finishing off with a thin strip when you come to fit the final panel.

1. Measure the length of your ceiling using the tape measure, and transfer it to the panel, marking a straight line across it with the pencil.

2. Cut panels to this measurement using a hacksaw (decorative side up) or jigsaw (decorative side down).

3. If you are not panelling your ceiling, measure and install an End/ J Trim at the top of your wall, flush to the ceiling.

4. Run a generous amount of adhesive/sealant on the back of the panel, and secure to your wall (slotting into the J Trim if used.) Use a squeezing motion to remove any air pockets between it and the wall.

5. Repeat the process for each panel, pushing them firmly together using the tongue and groove profile for a neat finish.

6. In shower areas, apply a bead of silicone into the panel grooves before slotting in the adjacent panel. This prevents water penetration between panels.

7. Apply silicone sealant around the inside of all end cap trims for a watertight seal.

Finishing Trims

To trim around a window, use an external rigid angle. Mitre the corners and fix using adhesive.

Skirting Board can be used for a neat finish at floor level.

End Caps can be used if you are only partially cladding your walls, for a neat vertical or horizontal finish.

Trims can be used if you want to join panels together (to extend length or create feature panel effect).

Tips

  • When installing ceiling panels. secure to the ceiling using the screws, staples or pins (through the tongue of the panel).
  • Install panels sequentially (1, 2, 3, etc.) to ensure pattern alignment and prevent mismatching.
  • Work in a well ventilated area using safety gear.
  • Only use solvent-free adhesives.
